This half-day, in-person course delivers comprehensive training in phlebotomy, with a focus on the safe and effective collection of blood samples. Designed for healthcare professionals, the course emphasizes proper venipuncture techniques, infection control, patient communication, and managing challenging scenarios.
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand the principles and practices of phlebotomy, including relevant anatomy and physiology of venipuncture
Become familiar with the tools and equipment used in blood collection and their correct application
Develop hands-on skills in performing venipuncture safely and confidently
Learn how to support patients with special needs, such as those with needle anxiety or difficult veins
Understand infection prevention practices, including aseptic techniques and safe disposal of sharps
Identify common complications (e.g., fainting, hematoma) and know how to manage them
Build confidence in communicating effectively and delivering compassionate patient care during procedures
