Overview

This half-day, in-person course is designed to increase awareness and understanding of mental health conditions. It equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges with empathy, sensitivity, and confidence.

Course Objectives

  • Understand common mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia

  • Identify key signs and symptoms of mental health issues in various healthcare settings

  • Gain insight into the impact of mental health on daily functioning and overall well-being

  • Explore emotional support strategies to promote mental wellness and resilience

  • Learn effective communication techniques for engaging sensitively with individuals in distress

  • Understand the role of stigma and how to create an inclusive, supportive care environment

  • Explore available support systems and referral pathways for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties
