This half-day, in-person course provides specialist training for healthcare professionals involved in the care and management of patients with Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) and Radiologically Inserted Gastrostomy (RIG) feeding tubes. The course focuses on safe handling, clinical competence, and compassionate patient care, with emphasis on reducing complications and promoting independence.
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand the indications and contraindications for PEG and RIG tube placement
Learn relevant anatomy and physiology associated with enteral feeding procedures
Gain hands-on skills in the cleaning, dressing, and daily care of PEG/RIG feeding tubes
Perform safe administration of feeds, medications, and fluids via PEG/RIG routes
Recognise and manage common complications such as infection, blockage, or tube displacement
Learn strategies to educate patients and caregivers on PEG/RIG care, hygiene, and lifestyle adjustments
Understand best practices for monitoring patient outcomes and maintaining proper documentation

Any professionals responsible for PEG/RIG management in hospitals, residential care, or home settings

Assessment: Practical demonstrations and written assessment
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a PEG / RIG Management Certificate, valid for 2 years.
