This half-day, in-person course equips healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and clinical skills required to safely manage patients with diabetes. The training focuses on blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and promoting best practices in day-to-day diabetes care.
By the end of this course, participants will:
Understand the pathophysiology of diabetes and its effects on body systems
Learn various methods of blood sugar monitoring and their clinical importance
Gain confidence in the safe handling and administration of insulin, including:
Different insulin types
Injection techniques
Dosing schedules
Recognise and manage symptoms of hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia
Understand the integrated role of diet, exercise, and medication in diabetes control
Develop strategies for educating patients and families on diabetes self-management
Explore the psychological and lifestyle challenges faced by individuals living with diabetes
This course is ideal for:
Nurses and healthcare assistants

Any professionals responsible for diabetes care in hospitals, care homes, or the community

Assessment: Practical demonstration and written knowledge assessment
Participants will receive a Diabetes, Sugar Monitoring & Insulin Management Certificate, valid for 2 years.
